2. Drava Park Forest (Dravska Park-Šuma)

This large green zone near the city offers peaceful walking and biking trails, picnic areas, and birdwatching spots. It’s a great way to experience the river's tranquil surroundings and spot local wildlife.

3. Old Drava River Meanders (Stara Drava)

These former branches of the river form a mosaic of oxbow lakes and wetlands rich in biodiversity. They are particularly appealing to anglers, birdwatchers, and photographers. The area is part of the larger Drava-Mura Regional Park, a protected landscape.

4. Hydroelectric Power Plant Varaždin (HE Varaždin)

Located a few kilometers downstream, this dam and reservoir have created a large artificial lake. The reservoir is used for water sports like kayaking, rowing, and sailing, and it attracts locals for summer recreation.

5. Čakovec-Varaždin-Drava Bike Trail

Cyclists can follow well-maintained bike paths connecting Čakovec, Varaždin, and several scenic spots along the Drava River. The route is part of the international EuroVelo 13 – Iron Curtain Trail, making it popular with touring cyclists.

6. Birdwatching and Eco-Tourism

The area is part of the UNESCO Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve, often called the “Amazon of Europe.” This designation reflects the ecological richness of the river corridor, with rare bird species and pristine habitats.
